Asda Income Tracker reveals the financial strain faced by low-income households due to rising inflat

Asda’s Income Tracker, published on July 21, 2025, shows that 40% of UK households saw their spending power decrease in June, as inflation rose to 3.6%, the highest since January 2024.

The decline in power costs affected the families with the lowest income. These families saw the power of their expenses 8.1% from the previous year, causing them a weekly lack of £ 74. This difference between income and living costs is expanded.

Increase in inflation is driven by important goods such as food, fuel and tools. This growth is more impressive for low -income families, who use a large part of the income on these basic things.

The tracker also revealed regional differences. In West Midlands, power growth fell by 0.6% compared to the 12.0% increase in the same month last year. Families in the region have an average disposable income of £ 191 per week, below an average of £ 250 per week. Northern -irland has the lowest disposable income, on average £ 129 per week.

On the other hand, London (£ 326), Scotland (£ 261) and former England (£ 267) reports available over the UK's average. These areas help high income and strong job markets, which protect home from the full effects of inflation.

CEBR manager for forecasts Sam Miley noted: "In June, inflation surprised, and put pressure on domestic budgets. However, the concentration of inflation in the necessary categories hardly hits home. However, revenue increases stronger and some prices have increased."

Asda focuses on giving prices to families. Supermarkets were recently recognized as the lowest priced supermarket in the UK by a grocery at the annual 'Groser Golds' awards ceremony.
