Carrefour and Coopérative U have announced the launch of a new European buying alliance named Concordis. The partnership aims to boost purchasing competitiveness by combining volumes, with benefits intended for consumers.
Concordis will cover two main areas: negotiating purchase prices and providing international services. It will work with multinational branded consumer goods suppliers in the European countries where both groups are present. The alliance will begin with the 2026 negotiation cycle and has been confirmed for a six-year term.
The alliance plans to grow further by inviting other European retailers. Discussions with additional partners are already in progress.
Concordis will be headquartered in Brussels. Carrefour’s subsidiaries CWT and Eureca will support the alliance, contributing European reach and international experience. Coopérative U brings its past experience with global partnerships and expertise from future retail partners.
The partnership will observe healthy and open supplier relations, in line with the principles of Carrefour and Coop erative U. Long-term Corporate initiatives include integrated business plans and concentration on equal agri-food chains also.
The joint venture will be informed of the French Competition Authority by the end of July 2025 and the governance of both organizations will be provided.
Further cooperation areas are also under review. The two groups will explore joint auctions for standard private label products while keeping full independence for differentiated goods. Carrefour may support Coopérative U in non-food categories such as textiles. In digital retail, Coopérative U will join Unlimitail, the retail media joint venture between Carrefour and Publicis.
Concordis is positioned to become a leading buying force in France and aims to expand its reach across Europe.
